Each of the 12 Chinese Horoscope Signs is associated to a unique flower. So, we have twelve flowers which according to my research are: Narcissus, Carnation, Violet, Jonquil, Sweet Pea, Passion, Rose, Larkspur, Gladiolus, Aster, Marigold, Chrysanthemum...
Chinese legends claim that these flowers where selected by the two gods who created Chinese Astrology. The gods asked the twelve Chinese Horoscope animals which flower they like the most. Then they assigned the preferred flowers to the animals.

Narcissus
Associated Chinese Horoscope Animal: Rat
Narcissus Information:
This magnificent plant generally flowers in Europe, N.Africa and Asia. There's
a well known ancient Greek myth about a man named Narcissus who fell in love
with his very self. Narcissus used to spend time in lakes and rivers and stare
at his reflection in the water. He was so obsessed with his own image that
he fell into the water and drowned. According to Greek legends, the first
Narcissus plant, flowered where this man died.
In China, Narcissus is a very useful and respected flower. During the Chinese
New Year people decorate their houses with it. It is also considered a medical
herb. Chinese use a mixture of wheat and Narcissus root to heal wounds of
the body and soul.
Carnation

Carnation Information:
This flower is historic and symbolic. It is strongly associated with Guan,
the
Chinese Earthly God. the Great Mother. It usually flowers in drained soils.
It is present in many gardens. In the entire world people use Carnations in
special occasions like weddings or feasts.
In China, Carnation is also associated with wisdom and educational matters.
It is said to cause fascination to those who look at it, to those who own
it. Chinese also use it to express their appreciation and love towards family.
Violet

Violet Information:
This well known plant commonly flowers around the world. You can see it's
heart-shaped leaves bloom during Spring. Viola flowers are used for medical
purposes because they are rich in vitamins A and C. in Europe they use Viola
in syrup form to decorate dishes. Many foods and drinks are flavored with
Viola essence.
In China, it is used in herbal medicine. Chinese drink tons of healing aromatic
Viola tea. They also extract the flower's essence and use it for perfumes
and scented materials like candles. In some Chinese provinces they cook cakes
using eggs, wheat, sugar and Viola syrup.
Jonquil

Jonquil Information:
Jonquil usually flowers during Spring in Europe, North America and Asia. Many
confuse Jonquil with Narcissus but even though they both belong to the same
family, they are two totally different plants. Jonquil's leaves and bulb contain
an alkaloid poison which is harmless to humans but very useful for the plant
to protect from its enemies.
Chinese use Jonquil flowers to create a special lucky seal which they wear
in important occasions. It is said that the seal brings extreme fortune to
the one who wears it. In ancient China, people used to decorate their coaches
and horses with Jonquil flowers.
Sweet Pea

Sweet Pea Information:
Sweet Pea grows naturally in Eastern Mediterranean regions. It is an impressive
large plant (up to 2 meters high) with purple flowers, capable of climbing
trees, walls, fences etc. Its a flower you can't help to stare. Many Sweet
Pea flowers where used in experiments by well known geneticists like Mendel.
Sweet Pea can be dangerous. It contains a poisonous toxin and should not
be eaten. Ancient Chinese used it with other herbs to create a poison for
their arrows. Many modern Chinese gardeners cultivate it for its bright colors
and its essence which is used to make expensive fragrances.
Passion

Passion Information:
Passion (also known as Passiflora or Passionfruit) is probably the most decorative
plant. It has a beautiful structure and exudes a sticky odorous liquid which
insects love. This flower has a unique reproduction method which requires
a specific big bee to land on its surface. Passion is very important for local
wildlife. Its flower lasts only for one day!
Chinese use Passion as a food plant. It is well known for its sweetness and
it is considered a delicious trait. They also smoke a mixture of dried Passion
leaves and other herbs. The flower is used for medical purposes too. It can
cure insomnia, depression or epilepsy. Passion is also a strong painkiller.

Rose

drinks and sweets. This plant grows naturally in Asia and Europe.
Chinese use Rose oil for the production of Rose water which is used in many
Chinese recipes and ceremonies. In China grows the Chinese Rose which possesses
the amazing ability to bloom repeatedly unlike any other Rose species. This
flower is strongly related to Guan, the
Chinese Earthly god.
Larkspur
Associated Chinese Horoscope Animal: Sheep
Larkspur Information:
This very rare and beautiful flower is native throughout the Northern Hemisphere
and Africa. It has five purple petals and can grow up to 2 meters high. Larkspur
needs butterflies in order to pollinate. The plant is very toxic and can cause
death if eaten in large amounts. Larkspur is very familiar to traditional
farmers who use its seeds to fight parasites.
Chinese herbalists use small amounts of Larkspur to cure asthma and eye diseases.
They also use a mixture of Larkspur and other herbs to create a natural high
quality ink. In ancient China, people used it against snake bites and stings
of scorpions.
Gladiolus

Gladiolus Information:
Gladiolus is an impressive flower which is native to Africa and Asia. Parts
of the plant are poisonous if ingested. Gladiolus is very attractive to most
insects and birds. Butterflies and bees love it and help in the flower's pollination
process. Most Gladiolus species are strongly fragrant.
In China and other parts of the world, people use Gladiolus in funerals and
other important ceremonies. Chinese believe that this flower will help people
who have passed away to find their destination in the heavens.
Aster

Aster Information:
Here is another popular flower which grows naturally in Eurasia during
Spring. Aster took its name from the Ancient Greek word "Asteri",
meaning "Star". It is a very attractive plant preferred by many gardeners
for its beautiful shape and bright colors. Aster is a very strong plant and
can grow even in the most hostile environments.
In China, Aster is used for decoration purposes during festivals and ceremonies.
It is also considered a symbol of pride and challenge. Ancient Chinese believed
that Aster was associated to Jade, the
Chinese Heavenly God, who gave it to soldiers as a gift of protection.
Marigold

Marigold Information:
Marigold is a brilliant plant which belongs to the same family with
Daisies. It flowers during Spring and loves sunny environments. Marigold is
well known for its beautiful shape, its shining colors and its strange odor.
It is native mostly to North and South America regions, especially in Mexico
but other countries produce large quantities as well. China for example, is
one of the leading countries producing and exporting Marigold flowers.
Modern Chinese doctors use Lutein which is extracted from Marigold to cure
eye diseases. Marigold is associated with Jade, the
Chinese Heavenly god. In ancient China, people used Marigold leaves to
cure headache and toothache.
Chrysanthemum
Associated Chinese Horoscope Animal: Pig
Chrysanthemum Information:
This is one of the traditional and most popular plants of the Chinese
culture. People in China cultivate Chrysanthemum flowers since the beginning
of their civilization. There is even a Chinese city named after this flower
(Ju Xian = Chrysanthemum city). The flower is also present in the Greek Mythology.
Chrysanthemum is actually a Greek word meaning "The Golden Flower".
It is one of the most decorative and sweet flowers. In some parts of China
they boil Chrysanthemum leaves to produce a special tea which will heal any
illness. Recent studies proved that Chrysanthemum flowers in an indoor environment
work as atmosphere cleaners, reducing air pollution.
